The ‘stoned’ reference pertains to the use of stone fruit in this Manhattan cocktail. You can substitute a peach if needed. Since those tend to be larger you might need to make 4 drinks out of it. Oh well…
1 nectarine, halved, stone removed
2oz sweet vermouth
4oz bourbon
2 spritzes biters
2 wedges of lemon
2T sugar
Broil the nectarine flesh side up until black spots predominate the flesh. Puree until smooth, adding about ¼ water to thin the mixture out.
Combined the cooled puree, vermouth, bourbon and bitters in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 1 minute. Strain with a fine-meshed strainer into a chilled martini glass.
Spill sugar onto a plate and roll the lemon wedges in the sugar until coated. Serve on the side of the glass.
